Q: What is it ?
A: The Blaster 360 is switching tool that enables you to plug in
your SATA cable or X360USB externally to the Xbox 360 to be able to
flash update your firmware without opening the case again.Q:
Will it work with all Xbox 360 DVD drives ?
A: It has been tested on ALL Hitachi drives and ALL Samsung drives.
If you have an Hitachi drive you should use the Hitachi Sata
Adapter. If you do not use this you may get disc errors / boot
errors. If you do not have this adapter and you have an Hitachi
drive ask your stockist to supply you with one.
Q: Do I have to open up the case to install this?
A: Yes, just once.
Q: How long does it take to install?
A: In our experience about 5-10 minutes.
Q: Is there an installation tutorial
?
A: yes:
http://www.team-xecuter.com/blaster360/installblaster360.htm
Q: Do I need any special tools to open up the case.
A: We provide a special unlocking tool to open up your Xbox 360
case. We also provide a Torx 10 screwdriver - both free of charge
with the Blaster 360.
Q: What is the Digital Sata Exchange
Circuit?
A: To ensure 100% reliability and performance when flashing firmware
we found this could only be rock solid by implement a high quality
Digital Sata bus to give the absolute best performance possible.
This isn't the cheapest solution but it is most certainly the best.
Q: What is the Hitachi Fix?
A: We found that older version Hitachi's (mostly the 046 and 047)
had read/write errors where you would get an on screen error (E46)
or the Xbox would not read any discs or would reboot itself. The
Hitachi fix was first release as a PCB to solder to the internals of
the Xbox 360 ODD unit. This is no longer required and there is now
an external Sata adapter that plugs into the back of the ODD and
then the ODD Sata cable plugs into that. This resolves all Hitachi
problems.
Q: Can I rip/backup original 360 games to my PC using this?
A: This can be done with any Samsung drive (Hitachi drives do not
unlock the game partition).
Q: Can I flash my Samsung with X360USB and the Blaster 360.
A: No. The Blaster is an external switching device, it does not give
any flash update capabilities. You have to use SATA for Samsung (&
078 Hitachi) or the X360USB for all other Hitachi.
Q: Can I use this on an Hitachi 078 model?
A: Yes by using the Maximus Toolbox app and Slax CD. (Maximus is
working on an update for Native USB compatibility)
Q: Can I use this on an Hitachi 079 model?
A: Yes but you need to fit the Xecuter X79 mod or the Maximus 79key
mod first and then use the Maximus Toolbox app and Slax CD.
Q: Do I have to solder anything?
A: There is absolutely no soldering required. There are a total of 5
cables to plug in - that's it.
Q: Do I have to cut the case?
A: There is absolutely no physical damage to the case whatsoever -
inside or out. You don't even have to remove any metal shielding
from the case like you do with other products.
Q: What is the ModeB switch for?
A: To switch between Modeb and Default. Modeb is for Hitachi (except
078 of course), Default is for Samsung drives.
Q: What is Modeb
?
A: Modeb (or Debug Mode) is a function where the drive switches
itself into a state where it can be recognized in Windows.
Q: Does the Blaster360 use the Xbox power supply?
A: No. You use an external Molex power supply unit (or PSU). This
isolates the Blaster360 function to be completely safe and separate
from the Xbox 360 itself. It also aids in extra portability, i.e.
you don't have to carry the Xbox 360 Power Supply around when you
want to use the Blaster 360. Most people will have a Molex PSU to
hand (Most PC's use Molex connectors), and if you don't they are
cheap and easy to buy.
Q: How does the Blaster360 turn on ?
A: When you connect the external Molex PSU the Blaster360 auto
switches to "External Mode". When you disconnect the Molex PSU it
auto switches to Xbox360 mode. Of course you must NEVER plug in the
Molex PSU and the Xbox360 PSU at the same time as this may damage
your Blaster and/or Xbox.
Q: How much is it?
A: We have seen stores advertising at $69.95 / £34.95. Bear in mind
we operate a high quality design and R&D policy which is very
expensive for us. You won't find any cheap China knock-offs coming
from Xecuter.
Q: Can I extract SS/DMI/PFI sectors from original 360 games to my
PC?
A: Yes you can.
Q: I have a Samsung DVD - what is the best SATA card to use ?
A: In our experience the best Sata Card is any with a VIA 6421
Chipset. Very cheap to buy - you shouldn't pay more than $15-$20.
Q: What is the LED for ?
A: The LED is Green when in PC mode and Blue when in Xbox360 mode.
Of course it also looks pretty cool !
Q: What is the LED Glow feature ?
A: Simply put its a strip of light that pulses. Gimmick? Yes.
Required? No. Cool? Absolutely !
Q: Can you disable the LED - because I hate LED's?
A: Yes you can You can also set the LED to be permanently on if you
don't like the glow feature.
Q: Can you flash the Samsung MS28 drive as it requires some
switching on and off to get it to work with SATA ?
A: Yes you can. We have included an MS28 on/off switch to make it
very simple. (It is essentially a power on / off switch as on the
connectivity kit v2 - so you can do the 12 second trick which is
documented in the tutorials section.)
Q: Do I need the connectivity kit?
A: No. All those functions are built into the Blaster 360.
Q: Where can I find install instructions?
A: All instructions are in the Tutorials
section of this site.
Q: Where can I buy the Blaster 360 ?
A: There is a long list of resellers on the left side of this page
(titled: Where To Buy)
Q: Where is the Blaster 360 made as I hear about many console
products manufactured in China and they are very poor quality.
A: All Xecuter products are manufactured in our own factory in
Taiwan. We do not out source anything whatsoever to mainland China.
