How to flash update the Hitachi 3120L (Not the 078 or 079) - Using a Blaster 360 and an X360 USB.

If you have one of the Pre-07x Hitachi drives (046,047,059 etc) then you will be happy to know that this is probably the absolute easiest way to update the firmware on your Xbox 360. In fact its so easy it's embarrassing :)

We will assume that everyone is using the latest C4EVA iXtreme firmware (don't bother using anything else). At the time of writing the version of this firmware was iXtreme-HitachiAll-RTMv3 (Filename on Xbins: iXtreme_Hitachi_1.2_rev2.rar)

For the sake of this method we suggest that you unpack the iXtreme files to C:/IXT

Now this is as easy as it gets......

1. Switch Blaster Power switch to OFF

2. Connect power to the Blaster (REMEMBER DO NOT HAVE THE 360 PSU PLUGGED IN AT THIS TIME!)

3. Connect X360 USB from your PC USB port to the Blaster (You can of course connect via Sata if you wish - it's just that X360 USB is so much easier)

4. Switch Blaster MODEB to ON

5. Turn Blaster Power Switch to ON

6. Blaster will light up BLUE. Windows should now detect your Xbox ODD. You will find a new drive letter (For the sake of this tutorial the drive letter is E: )

7. Open up a command prompt (START > RUN > type CMD)

8: Goto C:/IXT

9. If you have a previously flashed ODD then you should restore first (TYPE RESTORE <DRIVE LETTER> <RANDOM 4 NUMBERS> e.g. RESTORE E 1234

10. To flash the drive simply type FLASHIX <DRIVE LETTER> <RANDOM 4 NUMBERS> e.g. FLASHIX E 1111

11. If everything goes to plan you will see the following on your screen.

12. You are now finished! Turn the Blaster360 power off, unplug the cables and test your new flash updated Xbox 360 - how easy was that ? :)
