How to find out if you have a Hitachi-LG GDR 3120L or Samsung TS-H943 ODD (Optical Disc Drive) in your Xbox 360.

1. The easiest and fastest way to tell which make of ODD you have is simply to eject the tray [Pic 1a].

2. There are various firmware versions of Hitachi & Samsung drives, however to find out which version you would have to take the drive out of the case.

3. This is where you would find the Samsung Firmware version. It could be either MS25 or MS28. The image shows the MS25 [Pic 1b].

4. This is where you would find the Hitachi Firmware version. It could be 032, 036, 046, 047, 059, 0078fk or 0079fk (You will probably never see the 032 and 036 as they were beta and pre-launch drives). The image shows the 0078fk [Pic 1c].
