FIRST STEP IS TO MAKE SURE THE MOD IS IN 1MB FLASHING MODE. IF YOU HAVE THE SWITCH CONNECTED THEN YOU NEED TO SET THE SWITCHES TO "ON ON OFF OFF OFF" THIS WILL FLASH THE X3 BIOS TO THE FIRST 1MB PART OF THE X3's 2MB FLASH ROM. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE SWITCHES CONNECTED THE X3 WILL DEFAULT TO THE FIRST 1MB ANYWAY. MAKE SURE THE FLASH PROTECT SWITCH ON THE X3 IS SET TO DISABLED.

Of course you must have a bios file already resident on a hard drive (C:\Bios) that you have connected to your Xbox. This can be from a previous installation or if you have another bios on your mod enabling you to FTP to your Xbox. There are several tutorials on xbox-scene.com on how to cover this.

Select Load BIOS from HDD (C:\Bios)

You will now see a list of bios's you have in your C:\Bios directory. For this
example we are going to use X3 1959 Bios (1mb).

This is what happens if your X3 has its flash protection enabled. You wont
be able to update anything at this stage. You need to make sure the flash
protection is set to off on the mod and on the switch if you have it connected.
You will need to start over from the beginning.

As you can see the 1MB (1024k) Bios has been grabbed from the hard drive,
the X3 2MB (2048k) Flash Rom has been detected and things are progressing
nicely. The yellow bar = ERASING.

Superb we are almost there. The green bar = FLASHING.

The Flash has now completed. The Xbox will now turn off automatically.
Now turn it back on again yourself (quick press power button so X3 Logo
on switch is BLUE).

Success! Enjoy Your new Xbox adventure.
