READ THE SECOND POST. NEVERMIND THE FIRST ONE
My XBOX is currently locked close (I openned yesterday and followed the X3 on 1.6 guide, and when I tryed openning it again, the screw were damaged. After some panicking, I found out that I was using a Torx 15 screwdriver (Torx 20 is what I should have needed)). Anyway, untill I get one, I have a few question.
After doing the X3 on v1.6 install (for a X2.6L), my XBOX boot up as if absolutely no modding had been done (and none of the LED on the switch open, no matter in wich combination I place the switch. I did the alternate 5V point and I've tryed switching ON/OFF the LED switch).
My problem might be very simple to fix, it's related to the switch connector. To put it bluntly, I've never seen such cheap piece of crap. How are they supposed to work? No matter how much pression I place on both end, there is no way they will stay connected (the one inside the XBOX is holding with tape... well it was supposed to...). Is there some trick to it? And more importantly, would an unconnected switch cause the XBOX to boot to the MS dashboard?
Then there's the matter of the lack of install tutorial for the X2.6 on v1.6 XBOX. I followed the "official" one for the X3, but after getting some problem, I found 2 tutorial for 2.6 on 1.6, both had 1 more wire soldered ( http://www.consoleworld.gr/mode%20chip/xbox/xecuter%202.6%201.6.htm ) and one of them had the 5 wire connected differently. If both installation are so similar, then making a tutorial for X2.6 should be fast and easy to do. Then again, you'll end up loosing money from those that choose the X3 over the X2 only for the install tutorial [and the bios]. ;)
Oh, one last thing, if you don't have any experience soldering and have a v1.6 XBOX, don't even think about doing it yourself.
Edit (UPDATE)
Openned it, reconnected the switch inside. Still nothing.
Openned it again (well, by now I don't even bother placing the top cover back on...), re-soldered LAD0 and added the 5th wire from that other tutorial. Now fragging (green/yellow). Going to open it up again to remove the extra wire...
(another update)
Well, I soldred the extra wire and after much problem with the switch connectors, I'm able to get to Flashbios. By the way I hadn't soldered the grey LED wire properly (on the picture, I didn't see the grey circle (d0), only the white one...). I'm now stuck with a new problem. See the post below (to bump my thread that's now on page 2).
