2nd Xbox has E74 error - whats best kit ?

ok playing my 2nd xbox started getting slight graphics errors and colour fading in / out

then bingo turned it on day after and e74 - 1 red ring of death

so i gotta fix it whats the best kit for the money out there and where's best to buy it ??

i bought the screw kit on my original 2006 xbox that worked for a while then need the hairdryer women's on mega hot every two weeks, worn the threads out on the screws by overtightening them

any help appreciated as always

The most cost effecient would be to buy a heatgun.
I don't trust X-Clamps. Well, neither i do trust the heatgun anymore, its far from being a fix.

However, a well-done heatgunning concentrated at the (H)ANA and the GPU should solve it for quite a while.

Too late to edit, but has some things to add.

If you want to do an X-Clamp replacement, and its a one time only, i'd buy the Xecuter Pro Kit, it looks promising, but is kinda pricy. The only thing i don't agree with, is the overheating part in the guide, it will shut down way before the solder balls would reach the melting-point that way.

i doubt M$ will take my box back its got a lite on drive instead of a benq, no stickers but i can get some

so its fix it myself or pay M$ a few quid

the pro kit does look good and its my personal xbox so i want something that lasts a long time so i dont sit every other week fixing it

ive got stickers from my 3 xboxes i own - should have sent it back but after ripping the xclamps off i decided to the kit was best option

anyways ive received the kit today so i'll have a crack with it
