Lot number should be a safe way to be sure of what you got in the box without opening it: from what i saw here are some "winning" TS box lot number:

0604 (core or prenium)
0605 (prenium)
0611 (core)

Hope it will help!

Feel free to complete

PS: Hitachi users, don't give up, keep in mind that first Hack video by the specialist&co was showing a HL drive loading backup

I think ppl may find all core packs manufactured after Jan 2006 have the Toshiba Drives - so you can simply check the manufacturing date on the outside of the box. We need more results / feedback.
I have a core pack from mediamarkt in the Netherlands, and its production date is 2006-03-02 but there is a hitatchi drive inside

The Call of Duty 2 PAL PI iso is a FRENCH release - menus & everything in French.

So finally the answer to why it doesn't work for everyone has been discovered. It's useless unless you are French

Here is my test info:

CALL OF DUTY 2 (PAL PI RELEASE)

iSO Filename: Cod2.360
CallOfDuty-Pal.Fr.SS.ss :
2D8F0964502F0E939466133D66482E31 (MD5 of ss)

Compiled using XBOX360 SS Merger v1.3
Mode: Pad with blank (Xtreme Style)
Burned with Pioneer 110D & Clonecd
Datawrite Titanium Dual Layer Discs (2.4x)

Works 100% on a PAL console

IT'S FRENCH NOT ENGLISH !!!

What you need to be looking for is the lot number. I saw couple of people stating that they hot the TS in a box from lot 0611 and so i went over to a local bestbuy and got my self a premium from that lot and guess what??? TS
